Images & faces search: overview

The Images & faces search type lets you start a search from a photo instead of a username, email, or phone number. You upload a single image, pick one Module for the kind of question you have, and run it against that Module’s data source.

In the app the search-type selector labels this search type Picture. This documentation uses “Images & faces” for the same thing.

What this search type is for

Use Images & faces when your starting point is a picture and you want to answer a question like:

• “Where else does this photo appear online?” — a reverse-image Module (Google Lens or TinEye).
• “Where can I find this person’s face across the web?” — the Face Search Module (FaceCheck.id).
• “Where was this photo taken?” — an image geo-location Module (Picarta or FindPicLocation).
• “Has this image been edited or AI-generated?” — the Fake Image Check Module.

Every Module in this search type takes the same input — one uploaded image — so the workflow is identical whichever Module you pick. What changes is the data source behind the Module and what it returns. The full tile-by-tile breakdown is on Images & faces modules & options.

The end-to-end flow

The composer flow for this search type is the same as every other search type in UserSearch (see How search works):

1. Open the Images & faces search type from the composer’s search-type selector.
2. Pick one Module tile — for example Face Search, Image Geo-location, or Fake Image Check. Selection is single-select: the chosen tile is drawn with a coral-orange border, and choosing one deselects the others. Selecting a tile loads its description, its query form, and its Cost per search line below the grid.
3. (Optional) configure OneScan. If you pick the Image (OneScan) Module, its gear icon opens the Choose Data Source modal, where you toggle which image data sources run and see the running total. See OneScan.
4. Upload your image. The input area is headed “Upload an Image”; use the Choose File button (it reads “No file chosen” until you pick one).
5. Check the Credit cost. Confirm the Cost per search value shown for the selected Module before you run it.
6. Run the search. Click the primary action button to run the selected Module against your image.

Caution

The primary action button label was captured as “Analyse Image” while the Fake Image Check Module was selected. Elsewhere in the composer the equivalent button reads “Search Now”. The exact button label for the other Images & faces Modules is not captured — treat “Analyse Image” / “Search Now” as the same run action.

Cost

Each Module shows its own Cost per search line, denominated in Credits and drawn from your main search-credits pool (the balance pill read $22.88 in the captured frame). UserSearch uses three cost tiers — free, fixed, and dynamic (see Credits & pricing):

• Fake Image Check is free — its cost line reads “Cost per search: Free.”
• Image (OneScan) is dynamic — its cost is the sum of the image data sources left toggled on in its Choose Data Source modal (per Lee, 2026-07-08 — the OneScan cost model).

Caution

Only the Fake Image Check cost (free) and the fact that OneScan is dynamic are established. The exact Credit cost and cost tier of the other six Images & faces Modules — Face Search (FaceCheck.id), Picarta, FindPicLocation, TinEye, Google Lens, and Face Search 18+ (CamGirlFinder) — are not yet captured. Check the cost shown on the tile in the app before running any paid Module.

What you get back

After you run a search, results populate the right-hand panel with the standard header counters — Found, Enriched, and Connections — over a results table whose columns adapt to the Module you ran, plus a Details panel for the selected row. Reverse-image and face Modules typically report where the image/face was Found and, where the data source returns profile-level metadata, mark those rows Enriched.
